NEIL YOUNG is today planning to complete the signing of former Wrexham and Wales under 21 international striker Marc Williams.
The Chester boss believes Williams, who has been released by Conference Premier club Kidderminster Harriers, can strengthen his attacking options.
“A deal was agreed on Friday with Marc and I’m aiming to get all the paperwork completed today so that he can be available for selection in time for Saturday’s home match against Buxton,” Young said.
“I’ve watched Marc play for Kidderminster twice this season and he was the best player on the pitch in those two matches.
“I’ve monitored him since those two games and I made an enquiry to Kidderminster about two weeks ago about whether Chester could sign him on loan or on a permanent basis.
“Since then Kidderminster have cancelled his contract and we have faced competition from other clubs to sign him.
“I spoke to Marc on Thursday about the possibility of him signing for Chester and he got back in touch on Friday and we agreed a deal that will see him sign permanently for us until the end of the season.
“I feel the signing is a good bit of business because there was no fee involved and he will strengthen our attacking options at an important stage in the season.”
