Airbus have signalled their intentions by appointing Andy Preece as their new director of football.

The former Wrexham striker has left his role as Northwich Victoria boss to take the reigns at the Airfield, replacing Craig Harrison who departed for The New Saints 18 days ago.

Preece will be joined at Airbus by his assistant at the Victoria Stadium, Andy Morrison, who will be first team coach alongside Andrew Thomas, while Darren Ryan, who had a spell at the Airfield last season, is the club’s new head coach.

“This has shown our ambition,” declared Airbus chief operating officer Stewart Roberts. “The club is excited to have appointed Andy and everyone is looking forward to working with him.”

The 44-year-old Preece had led Northwich to second spot in the Northern Premier League, three points behind Chester.

Preece, who also played for Crystal Palace, Blackpool, Stockport, Bury and Carlisle United, is set to take charge of his first game as Airbus chief in Friday’s League Cup first round, first leg encounter with Bala Town.
