A MAN died after being struck by a train near Bagillt.

Police and paramedics were called to the track near Manor Industrial Estate at around 9.45am today (Wednesday) but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the man's identity and the full circumstances of the incident, including how he came to be on the tracks."

Arriva Train Wales said the train involved was the 8.45am Llandudno Junction to Manchester Piccadilly service.

Services between Rhyl and Chester were severely disrupted and bus rail replacement services were arranged.

Trains were back up and running at around 11am although there were some minor delays while services recovered.
