MOCHDRE’S weekend fixture at Mold fell foul of the weather, but the club’s Seconds and Thirds both kept up their respective pushes for promotion.
The Seconds now need a ten point victory in their final game of the season to guarantee promotion, having won their weekend match against Buckley.
In a rain reduced 40 over match, Aamer Sardar took four wickets, including three which were clean bowled, to reduce the visitors to 136 all out.
Gareth Goodson finished with one for seven from six overs, as well as two brilliant stops in the field, whilst Richard Totton took three for 15 and Ben Ashworth two for ten as Buckley were dismantled for just 55 runs.
With concerns over how the weather would affect their innings, Mochdre opened with Roy Stevens and Gareth Goodson and 18 runs came from the first over.
Roy was out for 7 in the second over and Gareth reached 30 in the fourth over, with the winnings runs arriving in the seventh over.
Matthew Humphreys meanwhile claimed his fifth five wicket haul of the season as Mochdre beat Buckley to go third in the Division Five table.
Visiting Buckley scored 136 all out from 36 overs, with Thomas Davies and Dan Parry both taking two wickets and Andy Welden claiming another.
Mochdre were finding runs difficult to come by but were grafting hard. Welden (31) batted sensibly to push the hosts toward victory, as seven players reached double figures.
In the end it fell to TJ Davies (18) and an unusually circumspect Paul Humphreys (16) to get Mochdre over the line in the 52nd over.
