HOTEL bosses in Chester have recruited a top hospitality expert in the hope she can help them gain first-class honours from the industry.
Pauline Downing, whose career spans 30 years, has been appointed conference and events sales manager at the DoubleTree by Hilton Chester.
Pauline, who has worked at luxury hotels in the UK and abroad, has been in a varied number of roles in hotel reception, front of house, marketing and conference and event sales.
The new role carries on from the success of Pauline’s previous position as conference and event manager at Aberystwyth University. While there Pauline helped change the department into a commercial venture with the ‘selling’ of university facilities during non-student time.
Pauline said: “I’m thrilled to join such a vibrant, enthusiastic team here at the DoubleTree Chester.
“My main role is to maximise conference and events sale revenue and profit through pro-active selling and commercial management skills.
“I also want to create a working environment that supports organisational and brand values to build on the outstanding customer service that is already apparent at the hotel.”
General manager Tony Wright says: “Our staff are blossoming under Pauline’s guidance, she is a breath of fresh air to the department. Her experience is second to none and I am looking forward to her continued input.”
