ORGANISERS of Chester’s major summer festival have this week revealed their jam-packed line up.
After the success of the first year of Chestival in 2010 the colourful city-based festival will be returning for its second year and organisers say it will be both “bigger and brighter”.
This year the festival is ten days longer starting from Saturday, June 4 and finishing on Saturday, July 16.
Events that proved popular at last year’s inaugural six-week festival will return to the line-up alongside a string of new showcases.
John Greaves, communications executive for Chester-based MBNA, which is sponsoring the event, said: “We are delighted to be supporting MBNA Chestival again this year after such a wonderful event last year.
“The first Chestival brought so much excitement to the city and attracted many visitors from across the region and beyond.
“This year’s MBNA Chestival promises to be even bigger and better and we are proud to lend our support to what we hope will be an even more memorable event in 2011.”
Tracy Lynn, director of Chester Festivals, added: “We were overwhelmed last year by the amount of people who came out to see all of MBNA Chestival events and we certainly had the weather which helped.
“We are aiming for the same crowds and weather this year to kick start everyone’s summer – young or old.”
