A SCHOOL community donning fancy dress costumes have raised more than £1,800 for a charity cause.

The usual uniform, blue and green stripy blazers, were nowhere to be found at The King’s School, Wrexham Road, Chester.

Students and staff dressed in all manner of costumes for the finale of a week of fun activities on behalf of Comic Relief.

Fundraising activities included red nose sales with special gold and silver tickets hidden in them, beat the goalie, soak the teacher, a Dr Who quiz, a cake sale and Sixth Former Charlie Colicutt endured his legs being waxed.

The ‘Fancy Dress Catwalk’ saw the best costume from each tutor group throughout the school parade. A judging panel then chose the best overall winner.

Some of the hundreds of costumes were a box of Smarties, a bottle of Comic Relief red and white wine, Prince William and Kate in full wedding regalia, Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse. Teachers and staff joined in with some fabulous creations based on the theme of super heroes, with costumes such as The Incredibles and Super Zero.
