A TEAM of intrepid police officers are preparing to scale the summits of the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in an incredible 24 hours in aid of charity.
The time limit for the teams trek across Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon will also include five hundred miles of driving between the three peaks and the officers are busy training around the clock for their tough quest in support of Cancer Research.
Constable Paul Boneham, from Chester Outer Neighbourhood Policing Unit said, “It is going to be tough on those of us climbing and the people doing the driving, but we have put some training in and we are determined to do it.
“We have chosen May 11th/12th for the challenge because we think the weather should be about right and we have scheduled the climbs so that we avoid rush-hours on the journeys between the peaks.
Accompanying Paul in the climbing team are Sergeants Mike Waters and Lance Ball and Constable Sarah Allibone, all Western Area Response Officers; Sergeant Chris Nightingale, from Warrington South Neighbourhood Policing Team and Personal Safety Trainer Danny Phillips, who is based at Blacon Police Station.
The drivers are Constable Paul Taylor and Police Community Support Officer Keith Bartlett, both from Chester Outer Neighbourhood Policing Unit.
Paul added: “Because we have organized the whole thing ourselves we have been looking for sponsorship from local companies. Handbridge Garage is providing a tank of fuel and some food. Trak (Global Solutions)Ltd is giving us equipment and money so thanks are given to all who have generously given their support.
