RESIDENTS wanting to buy a new home are being offered a helping hand by the council.
An extended housing service is being run by Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWaC) housing strategy in a bid to help first-time home buyers get a foot on the property ladder.
The scheme is aimed at those planning to take up council-funded home ownership by putting together a comprehensive list of approved financial and mortgage advisers.
CWaC executive member for prosperity, Cllr Herbert Manley, said: “In recognising the difficulties facing first time buyers, CWaC would like to help improve access to specialist financial advice from a range of qualified mortgage and financial advisers across the borough.
“The establishment of an approved advisor-list will enable direct referrals and professional advice around specific affordable housing products and possible mortgage solutions.”
He added CWaC was keen to ensure any purchaser who required an affordable housing product or good quality advice was able to speak to a mortgage adviser.
