CHESTER MP Stephen Mosley has toured three housing schemes that have been set up for the area’s most vulnerable residents.

Mr Mosley, who called the schemes “encouraging”, was joined on his visit on Friday by five councillors and bosses from The Muir Group Housing Association.

The units included Tweedsmuir, in Vicars Cross, a sheltered housing scheme for older people; Rowlands Lodge, in Chester, a supported housing scheme for adults with learning disabilities, and Howley House, in Blacon, a supported housing and resettlement scheme for women moving on from hostels. Mr Mosley chatted with residents and staff and said he was impressed by how “happy and safe” residents in all the schemes appeared to be.

“I was extremely grateful to Muir Group Housing for giving me the opportunity to witness the good work that they do in and around Chester,” he said. “At a time where many people across the country are struggling to find suitable accommodation for themselves and their families, it is encouraging to see a national company based on our doorstep here in Chester, providing quality and affordable housing for those in real need of support.”

The city MP also met Muir Group Housing Association’s chairman Anthony Diggle, chief executive John Bellis and director of housing services Sam Scott.

Mr Bellis said: “We were delighted to welcome our local MP and show him around our schemes.

“He spent a long time chatting with staff and residents and really listening to what they had to say.”
