SIX unique gardens will be opened to the public this summer.

Burton village, near Neston, will invite green-fingered enthusiasts behind the fences of some of its most beautiful homes as part of the National Gardens Scheme.

On display will be a variety of different garden styles, from Burton Manor’s historic formal garden designed by Thomas Mawson with its terrace, yew hedges and colourful bedding, to the wildlife area with pond at Maple House.

Teas will be served to visitors on the terrace at Burton Manor and there will be plant sales at Briarfield, Burton Manor and Lynwood.

Entry to the gardens is £4.50 or free for children.

All plant sale profit will go to charities including Macmillan Cancer Relief and Marie Curie Cancer Care, while proceeds from the teas go to Claire House Children’s Hospice. Parking is free.
