RESIDENTS in Chester are being encouraged to put a spring in their step and take part in a series of walks this summer.
NHS Western Cheshire have recently launched the latest addition to the Chester Health Walks Programme.
The latest walk starts from the new Chester Healthy Living Centre, located on the ground floor of the Plas Dinas tower block in Blacon, meeting for a 1.30pm start, and will take place every Wednesday afternoon.
Routes have been planned to ensure they are suitable for all and will last about 30 minutes.
This new walk will add to the existing health walk that already takes place in Blacon every Monday morning from the United Reformed Church on Saughall Road.
Julie Webster, director of public health, said: “Walking is an ideal activity for people to build up their fitness. Most people can do it, you don’t need any special equipment and, best of all, it’s free. It is also a very sociable activity so why not come along, try it out and meet new people.”
Organiser Dave Cotterell said: “We are always looking at setting up new walking groups in different areas. If you feel there is an opportunity to set up a new group in your area, why not give us a call and discuss it with us.”
